It is hard to believe that it is already December and for many the “off-season” has become the “pre-season”.
There have been some encouraging reports of the number of people attending the early “pre-season” training and that in many cases the fitness levels of those attending is already well above last year.
Despite not meeting as an Association until the New Year, here is an update regarding some areas of Association business which have continued during the “off-season”.
1) NSWAFUA Committee
While a lot of work has been on-going throughout the “off-season” including (but not limited too) the CBA, training and training base /venue for the Sydney Umpiring group in 2009 and of course the very important sponsorship, I am pleased to advise that as a committee we have allocated some specific areas of responsibility for the 2009 season – please see below.
2) The 2009 NSWAFUA Committee Allocation of Responsibilities
President – Anton Lewis
Responsibilities – CBA, Liaison with AFL, Membership Packs and Uniforms.
Vice President – Jeff Milne
Responsibilities – CBA, Welfare, Membership Packs and Uniforms.

Responsibilities – Finance, Logistics and Canteen.

While the committee is keen to ensure that all these important areas are managed and supported throughout 2009, we do need your help.
If you have any interest or can assist in any way, please let either myself or the relevant committee member know. Your help would be very much appreciated.
3) Pre-season Training
While the official AFL NSW/ACT “pre-season” training will commence in early February 2009 – I will advise you of more details once they have been confirmed – many have already started training.
As you may have already seen, Danny Deigan is once again leading the early “pre-season” training group with training being held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings.
While this is not the “official pre-season” training, if you are interested and keen to build a solid fitness base in preparation for the 2009 season, please contact Danny on his email – for the location and time of the next training run.
